What is Laser Therapy?

Laser Therapy is a surgery and drug-free, non-invasive treatment to:

  • Reduce pain
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Speed healing

LASER is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. The Companion Animal Therapy LASER is a Class IV LASER that uses a beam of laser light to deeply penetrate tissue without damaging it. Laser energy causes a biological response in the cells called “photobiomoducation”, which leads to reduced pain, inflammation, and increased healing speed.

How is it done?

The laser light is delivered through a non-invasive handheld device to treat the affected area. Your pet may feel a gentle and soothing warmth. Most treatments take only a matter of minutes to complete.

What can it treat?

Laser therapy has been scientifically proven to be successful in treating post-surgical pain and many acute and chronic conditions. Acute conditions that can be treated by laser therapy include wounds, allergies, infections, cuts, bites, inflammations, tooth extraction pain relief, sprains, strains, fractures, and post-surgical pain relief. Chronic conditions that can be treated with laser therapy include but are not limited to degenerative joint disease, inflammatory bowel disease, periodontal disease, lick granulomas, geriatric care, hip dysplasia, feline acne, tendonitis, arthritis, otitis.

What are the costs?

Treatment protocols are unique to each patient and condition. Treatments will vary in time, complexity, and cost. Laser therapy can be used to enhance other treatment plans recommended by your veterinarian. Call for details on laser therapy treatment packages and ongoing therapy.
